The BDGA Board election closed yesterday afternoon and the results were announced at the AGM. The following officers were elected:
National Director: Tom Lowes
Secretary: Sam Stevens
Treasurer: James Burton
Director of Communications: Paul Stoddart
Director of Competitions: Phil Wood
Results are available here:
I would like to broadcast our thanks to (outgoing) Director of Competitions, Matt Cutler, for his three years of service, and to Phil Wood for stepping up and re-joining the Board, after his stint from 2012-2017.
Analysis of the results shows 49 ballots were cast, out of a possible 148 memberships at the time, giving this election a turnout of 33% – below last year’s 41% turnout.
The number of votes for Re-Open Nominations has also increased – from 3% of votes in 2018 to nearly 9% of votes in 2019. Whilst these votes can be seen as a form of protest, it is difficult for us to know what is being protested. Furthermore, nominations were open for people to stand before the election, but no-one stood against the current incumbents. Therefore, if you are someone has voted ‘RON’ please consider either standing for election yourself, or identifying someone you think would be better and persuading them to stand – that way you have a chance to get the change you seek.
