Beaminster Working Parties for British Open

Post by Charlie Mead » Mon Jan 25, 2010 3:35 pm

For all those who would like some physical exercise, good food and a feeling of jobs well done there will 3 Working Weekends to prepare the Whitcombe course (s) for the Open.

April 9-11

June 11-13

June 25-27

Then the final week when all the infrastructure will be put in place - marquees etc which will be June 28 -July 2nd.

If anyone wants to come help on those dates - any or all - and bring family and friends as well we have the Summer House and camping available.

PS Rising to Village's challenge I will of course post this on at least two sites!!!

Charlie

The humorous banter with Village aside, posting the same message in multiple locations causes you more harm than good, as you dilute your message, people end up posting about the Open in the Frostbreaker thread and you lose the benefit of having a single place to go to to find out about the Open.

In short, stop it, I'll delete them if you do :P
[Standard post disclaimer] My posts are never intended to undermine the work of the Board or individuals putting in effort to grow the sport, they are my honest thoughts on the best ways to grow the game

The 100th player to register for the Open was:

Kevin Couch from California, USA

Playing Masters division.

And he's paid as well.

A small competition for you all. If you come up with the winning phrase or tag line then you will have a £15 deduction in your entry fee to the Open, or a disc of your choice!

We want to creat a Tag line for Whitcombe, much as Stockholm has 'Easy to Love Hard to Win'we want a Tag that sums up our event/course.

Chosen tag will be incorporated into the Logo.

Watch out for more Comps and invites to the working weekends. The staff team is growing daily too!

"it's hilly, not silly"

"Where's Whitcombe? In Dorset. Yes I'd highly recommend it!"

or slightly more extreme:

"play disc golf at Whitcombe or we'll do you in!!"

How about:

'It's not as far out of the way as Mull!"

or maybe...

"I hope the wife and kids appreciate the sacrifices I make to get to these tournaments."

or even...

"Beaminster - It may be Heaven on Earth but it's still Disc Golfing Hell!"

Do I win?

"You're from the Low Countries you say?....... Well, you're F****d!"

Not really a tag line, but true all the same!
