Great looking round, 12 birdies, but he's got to be kicking himself on the 1 bogey, the rest of his group was 1 birdie and 2 pars for that hole.

Hole one looks like it's wreaking havoc already.

Everyone likes to be the back of the bus sometimes ;)

Not a bad start though

Rich Wood, Dark Mavis, and Bruce all finished for today. Not sure how happy any of them will be, depends how tough the course was playing.

Paul Holden, Pickett, Charlie and Dan Ryan under way. Looks like a good start from Dan Ryan.

Good strong start for Soph, only 1 over through the first 6 which looks better than most of the other women.

Think top Brit in today was Dan Ryan with 2 under, few still to come but he looks likely to be the top.

If you want to know how tough this course is then all I can say is that it is on a par with playing 27 holes at Beaminster in the snow.

Andy Cotgreave has done some excellent analysis with Tableau, and you can play with the stats to make your own comparisons

Big thank you to Charlie and all the army of staff for putting on a great tournament. Special mentions for Gary and Sian (amazing work on the daily organising of the staff AND doing half the work yourselves) and Tom (first class scoring service as always).

DG could not happen without the support of all the volunteers, so a huge pat on the back to all.

Congrats to Del on the GM win!

Gold and Brown rounds now available:
http://public.tableausoftware.com/views ... s?:embed=y

Gold = the best round based on the best performance each player managed on each hole
Brown = the worst round.

Derek: very consistent
Jester: all over the place!

I have to agree, that gap from golden to brown is fugly. It widened further on Sunday when I 3ed #1 leading to the following conversation with Rich Wood:

Jester: On hole #1 I've gone 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
Rich: I've gone 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
Jester: High straigh wins. :D

Excellent work on all the stats again, Andy.

Something not quite right with this. The high/low hole scores are correct, but the totals at the end appear to simply be the player's best and worst rounds. So for me the Golden round is a 59 and the Brown is an 82
