British DG Open (BDGO) 2011
Re: British DG Open (BDGO) 2011
Do you know how many spots were paid out in the Open Division of the British Open itself? There were 15 in the division so if it was standard 33% payout then the top 5 cashed.
5th at British Open place was rated 997, tougher than the world benchmark to cash!

The home page for the British Open states
<< quote >>>
LESS THAN TEN DAYS TO GO AND THERE IS STILL SPACE TO PLAY
AND WIN THE BIGGEST PAYOUT OF YOUR LIFE!
GUARANTEED
$20,000 payout for the Global Disc Golf Tournament
Open Winner takes home over $3,000
Masters Winner takes home a minimum $1,000
Women and Grand Masters get substantial rewards too!
<< end quote >>
and yet the Global payout to the Open winner was just $300, that's 10% of the "guaranteed" amount.
When the top line attraction in the invitation is a GUARANTEED minimum payout then you better deliver on your promises or have a very good explanation as to why they were broken.
Why was the word GUARANTEED used?
If $20,000 was an initial guestimate, surely it should have been revised as it became clearer how many participating events were taking place, and TD's and thence players notified.
British players may not have bargained on getting much of a share of the spoils, but I'd imagine some overseas players will feel that the event has been mis-sold.
