Re: British DG Open (BDGO) 2011
Dear All,
An update on the situatiion at Essex.
This year (Aug 20-21) will see an extended Par 63 version of the course used in April
The University has refused to contribute to new baskets or tees so other arrangements will be made to host the European Championships in 2012on the campus
These will be held in the week in between Olympics and Paralympics - August 16-19 with three practice days from 13th Aug onwards.
There will be 192 players - 48 groups of 4 - golf start every day all four days for all players.
Qualification for most countries is based on this years performance - unsure what BDGA criteria are at this time
Each country is allocated a number of players based on membership and participation
We will get some extra places as host country.
All other details will be published as and when necessary but not before September 30th.
Hope this helps.

Re: British DG Open (BDGO) 2011
Quick update on BDGO this year:
Course Map is up on the website
Over half the field has paid and more registrations have been made. Marcus Kallstrom has registered and paid and is the highest Rated player so far.
Late payment fees now apply and any accommodation booked will have to be paid for even if players cancel.
We have a staff team of 5 at the present:
Dan Waxman
Ros Davies
Tom Lowes
Gary O'Malley
Sian
Three more needed (minimum) to help with spotting duties, scoring and Registration. Even for half a day would be very helpful. You get fed and goody bags.
Accommodation needed for volunteers who are not local - if any locals would be willing to put up with them!

Re: British DG Open (BDGO) 2011
Charlie, I'd quite hoped (to put it mildly) that you'd get university accommodation for volunteers as part of the deal. I don't really want to have to impose on someone's generosity for several days - regardless of how willingly they might offer it, if you see what I mean...Charlie Mead wrote:Accommodation needed for volunteers who are not local - if any locals would be willing to put up with them!

BDGO 2011 Update -
Please check out the BDGO website and the latest BDGA Newsletter for an update on what is happening this year.
The headlines are:
Registration Open til Friday 19th August at 5pm.
Amateur Fees reduced to £40 -
No late penalty fees for new entrants
Large increase in potential prizemoney fund as part of the Global Disc Golf Tournament.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
We are still looking for staff to help out as Nige Williams has been unable to make the weekend and we want to support him in making sure there is a Disc Zoo presence. Evena few hours would be really helpful.
Thanks.

Hi Charlie, Paul Stoddart here. Just wanted to let you know that I will about to help on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I also put a post on the Essex Face Book page that all us locals use asking if anyone else will be about so if I hear anything I'll let you know.

Kallstrom and Sikanen tied going into final 9, but Sikanen crumbled as Markus piled on the pressure to win by 5 shots. Marco leHousse won Masters, Sophie Southgate won Womens division. Derek Robins won Granmasters; and James Luton won Amateur Division in convincing style.

In the Global DG Tournament of which this was one of the participating events, the results can be found http://www.pdga.com/global-tournament-leaderboard
The event ran smoothly and the course was great. Thanks to Charlie Mead and all the many volunteers who helped with scoring, set up, spotting etc.

Interesting to see the global comparisons.
Nikko averaging 1060 is just sick.
Del 3rd in GM & James 7th in Am should both get payout (if the Ams are getting anything?). Looks like Soph and Dan Ryan would both just miss out unless it's paying to 50%

Just went digging for that info, top 33%, so 31/32 depending on how they cut the decimal, meaning you'd need to average 990 to cashJester wrote:How many spots were paid out in the Open Division?
