Re: British DG Open (BDGO) 2011
WANTED
I am attempting to collect as much information as I can so that someone can write a history of Disc Golf/Ultimate at Essex (1980-2011). If you have any info at all, including dates of events (National, European and Worlds) can you please send them to me. Also if you have access to past results, stories of interesting things, press cuttings etc then also pass them on. I have a lot of material already but I need corroboration as well so duplicates are golddust.
Anecdotes also good. Photos (especially of old discs/bags/minis and derek/me and early pioneer) especially welcome.
Thank you

I see of the 39 registrants so far only 5 are UK based players. Where is everyone? (and yes, I know I've not registered yet myself)Charlie Mead wrote:Registrations up to 33 -

I was really looking forward to this. Unfortunately it clashes with World Beach Ultimate Championships and this is probably the last year I will have a shot at getting into the (masters) team.Jester wrote:I see of the 39 registrants so far only 5 are UK based players. I designed the original course in 1980. Again in '82. Then variously Dave 'Skip' Everett, Tim Herring, Dave Allacker, Paul Cooper, Fernando Brown, and associates over the years as campus building has taken place. Others please add as am still trying to put together Essex History.
Will change you to MPM - but clearly not as Mr Scary!

Re: British DG Open (BDGO) 2011
Dave and Paul can be dropped from the credits as they have only tweaked a couple of tee positions for courses myself and our US friends created, but Guy Luard and probably Si as well can be added and don't forget Toy (Andy Lucey) he has had a lot of involvement design wise, for tweaks to the course Scott Reek and Rick Hoffa should also be up there as without them and Fernando a lot of the changes that we have managed over the years wouldn't have got done, especially the creation of the short course.Charlie Mead wrote:I designed the original course in 1980. Edit: forgot to say, Skip still plays at the course.
Edit#2: Wasn't Arni from Iceland involved at the very beginning Charlie?
Cheers

Re: British DG Open (BDGO) 2011
Thanks Rich - though I am not sure if you were drunk or not I am sure that my memory is fading. I just see a picture of you volunteering in the memory bank that says 'Staff'....Ah well - have a good weekend then!
Must have been Westy then!
Jesse - Spotters and beer? Put it like this - if you lost my disc coz you were beering up what might the penalty be? Suggestions please!
Meanwhile will add you to staff list just for suggesting it!
