Registration for Stockholm Open (SDGO) opened on Saturday.
Registration for Geneva (Swiss Open) opens on February 4th

Both are applying all the new rules for registration and Stockholm event looks like this:

"Registration procedure

Registration will open in several stages based on player rating.

The following rating or higher is needed for the different stages.

Pro/Jr/Am Division Code Stage 1 Stage 2 Stage 3
Pro Open MPO 975+ 940+ all
Women FPO 900+ 825+ all
Master MPM 950+ 900+ all
Grandmaster MPG 925+ 875+ all
Senior Grandmaster MPS 875+ 825+ all
JuniorYouth I Boys MJ1 925+ 875+ all
Amateur Advance MA1 closed closed all

Stage 1 opens January 15, all regardless of rating are allowed to register, but those who do not meet the rating criteria are placed on the waiting list until their resp. stage opens.

Stage 2 opens February 12, only players from the waiting list who meet the criteria for stage 2 are given a spot. If a stage 1 player registers after this date they will be treated the same as stage 2 players.

Stage 3 opens February 26, the same applies for all players regardless of rating, this means no special treatment for stage 1 or stage 2 players after this date.

So it is ok to register before the stage you belong to opens, you will then be placed on the waiting list until registration for the stage in question opens.

The waiting list is sorted by registration date, not by rating.
" See SDGO site for more details.

The same will apply to the British Open with two 14 day windows for payment. It means that any Am's wanting to enter can do so by the middle of April.

What a difference a week makes. From Gale Force 9 in Mull to breathless Geneva - 9 degrees to 28! But same result.
Came 2nd in GM division behind George Braun. Close fought to the end between top 3.
In the Open there was a fantastic battle the whole weekend with results being
1 Marcus Kalstrom SW
2. Sylvain Gouge FR
3. Simon Lizotte GR
3. Leo Pirronen FN

Great weekend all round.
