Midlands Disc Golf Series

Post by gommog » Tue Dec 23, 2014 5:00 pm

Probably needs a catchier name but I've been unable to think of one, if anyone has any sensible suggestions please let me know. I've been in touch with various people at the different midlands courses and there seems to be interest in running one day events. So far Nottingham, Bedworth, Quarry Park, Redditch, Shrewsbury and Stroud have all said they're interested but that's about it. I have no idea of the format but the smegs works well so I don't see why we can't copy the same scoring system and format. Also having not run a PDGA sanctioned event I've no idea where to start, do I just need to register events and dates with the BDGA? First step is to decide who is organising each event then come up with a schedule, any volunteers for each course to TD a one dayer?

Maybe but I think what you're describing is the british tour, if not just how much disc golf do you want to play in a year?

I could be wrong but I think what Robb means is the winner of each division playing off against the winner of the same division in the other regional tour. This would be quite fun but of course, similar to my comment on the Hyzer Cup, it would mean you could/should only take part in one regional tour. Personally I'm looking forward to playing in both the SMEGS and MODS (defo think you should go for that as the name ;) ) tours next year so would hate to have to choose between them. As I say though, I may be wrong and that's not at all what Robb meant lol

Gary, are you doing anything with this?

Running a PDGA event, especially a one dayer is dead easy - let me know if you want help with the setup, it's only the actual turning up on the day I can't commit to!!

I'm planning to, i'm hoping there will be someone from each course at Bristol at the weekend so it'll be much more efficient to start organising then and find out how the smegs is ran, points system etc.

You can get this going just pick a date, pick a course, create a Facebook event, PDGA C-tier event, £4 entry, with £1 ace pot ,
Our dates avoid all the BDGA event and the Trilogy and Ace race for maximum attendance
Only a bit of the money goes to the pdga(Phil woods), the on prize funds or to the club, when we started, our prizes were freebies and spare stuff,
Just set it up
