Croydon Cyclone BDGA Tour #8

Post by richard » Thu Jun 11, 2009 12:02 pm

Just a precursor question or to with regard to this years Cyclone.

As many of you will be aware, we have been eagerly awaiting completion of the new clubhouse. Unfortunately we have been informed that said clubhouse will NOT be ready to use at the Cyclone. The contarctors will do the handover to the council at the end of August and it look 95% certain that we will not get in in time for the tournament. This is obviously greatly disappointing, but will will continue with the Cyclone as scheduled.

On the bright side, one of our members at the club is the chairman of the local Scouts and has offered us floor space at the scout hall which is about 10 minute walk from the course. This means that we will be able to offer very cheap accomadation that comes with a kitchen, loos and a potential bar-b-q site for Saturday evening.

QUESTION:
How many of you out there would be interested in using the floor space at a cost of £5 per night for Friday and Saturday nights?

If we have enough interest we will get confirmation soon.

Assuming I get the Pink Ticket and am allowed to leave the family for the weekend, I would DEFINITELY want the Scout Hall sleeping option.

If I'm allowed out that weekend (doubtful, it is her birthday) I would be up for the floor space saturday night.

If I make it back from my summer holiday in time (currently due to land at 3am Saturday morning) and I can make it down there, then some floor space would be good :-)

is there any parking space at the scout hut? I'd like to bring my bed-on-wheels and kip in that....

obviously I'd be more than happy to pay 5 bar a night for the use of the facilities.

Just found out that there is only on road parking at the Scout Hut but you should be ok to park the van at my place... same goes for Ross and the fun bus. I have a secluded off road car park that should have room. And the tram stop is only 2 mins walk, but I'll have room in the Bongo for all those who can get up early!

More good news

Not only has the Scout Hut CONFIRMED its availability But I have had confirmation of a deal with the Holiday Inn Express that we have used for the last 2 tournaments.
If you would like to stay in a proper hotel then call the hotel directly and quote "Croydon Cyclone" as per the note I have had, shown below:

"Dear Richard

Thank you very much for returning my call and thank you for choosing our facilities to accommodate your guests.

As per our phone conversation, I am pleased to confirm our offer of a discounted rate of £50.00 per room per night inclusive of Continental breakfast for "The Croydon Cyclone" event taking place on the 05th September 2009. I can also confirm that this rate is also valid on the 04th and 06th September 2009.
I will load the information in our systems and your guests will only have to contact us either via phone or email with their details and credit card number to secure the reservation.

If you require anymore assistance please don't hesitate to contact me

Thank you

Rich, the way I'm playing at the moment you're going to have to open that recreational division, moving up seems unlikely!
