 30 June / 1 July by any chance?

Just to let people know, the reason that the Caledonian Open is still unconfirmed between 18/19 or 25/26 August is that we may have the chance to do what we've never done before and have the tournament on the English bank holiday weekend (25/26) and be on site all weekend. This would hopefully allow more people to travel up and make the tournament bigger and better than ever.

However, this has to wait on the Scripture Union finalising their calendar for next year. If it doesn't work out, we'll still be on our usual weekend (18/19).

Cheers,
Scuttler.

The Doubles Match Play is looking for a venue to host it again. Rather than try and squeeze it in between Frostbreaker the British Open in March, there is an opportunity to do something different with the event and have it in summer. Depending on the Crook of Devon and Whitcombe dates this could be 11/12 August. Please get in touch if you are interested.

Is the 2007 BDGA Tour to be PDGA C-Tier sanctioned events again? Or is this up to the respective TD's to decide whether they want this affiliation.

Well, unless their are some exceptions to EuroTour Guidlines that we are unaware of, it is hard to imagine more than a few of the Tour events being able to meet the requirements for sanctioning.

I would think there should be some light shed on all this soon.
Frolf it up!!!!

In answer to Tim, all events will be C-Tier.

In answer to Fernando:
2006 guide wrote:C Tier
a) PDGA EuroTour:
• Available at A and B tier event levels only as described above
b) PDGA EuroChallenge Tour:
All Countries:
• Events which fall below B tier standards for the different levels of countries as described above
• 70%+ of entry fees & sponsor cash paid out, minimum 25% of players in each division paid out

PDGA EuroChallenge Tour:

- 70%+ of net entry fees & sponsor cash paid out, minimum 25% of players in each division paid out
As you can see, the only change from last year is the addition of a €25 fee.
What we did last year was acceptable, what we plan to do in 2007 (the same thing) is also acceptable.

Okay, i'll bite

25 Euro sanctioning fee for each event
TD must be a current PDGA member
TD is recommended to have passed the officials test.
Minimum 25% of players in each division paid out, cash or merch.
Maximum 5 euro player fee applied for green fee's.
Maximum 5 euro player fee applied for BDGA tax.

Then we can look at the net recommended entry fee's for C-Tier events and then the use of the PDGA payout scale, then we can calculate the additional costs of running an event and then we could have a look at what is left in the pot... shall we...

Recommended fee, which we are completely free to ignore.
The two fees mentioned ~£7, plus £4 a day for lunch, trophies are also deductible, as are any extraordinary expenditures (toilet hire etc). I reckon you can get to the typical fee of £18 pretty fast.

But regardless of all that smoke-and-mirrors nonsense, the fact is that the PDGA ED held the 2006 BDGA Tour up as a shining example of PDGA progress in Europe, and he and the PDGA Board are actively encouraging other countries to follow the same model!

Ah, back to that creative accounting again

Out of interest, how much do you pay the Uni for the course for a weekend?

Now that we are back top work... the bosses here are asking for leave dates to be applied for.

Are we having a deadline for all tour dates to be confirmed by? If so; when?

I doubt it, as we're at the whim of the landowners in many cases. Jester is on leave this week I believe, he may have a better idea.

I'm on the case Rich, applying as much pressure as I can to get confirmations. There is no deadline as if I were to enforce one on land-owners they could quite happily tell us to get lost. Got to tip toe around this I'm afraid.

National Championship and Mull dates are now confirmed.

The Mull TD will be Angus Bruce with (hopefully) assistance from Charlie. Gremlin and Guy have offered to do the course preparation with Angus handling player registration, cash, grouping and scoring. On those last two items Charlie would value some additional help so please lend a hand as unfortunately neither Bruce or I can make it this year.

Regarding the unconfirmed events, we are waiting for responses from the landowners of Kingsland, Whitcombe and Crook of Devon. Quarry Park and Hayling are ready to take up either one of the two dates listed below in order to help balance things out.

Any takers for the Doubles Match Play on the proposed summer date? Will make it quite a different event in mid-summer rather than spring as has been the case in the past.

That's all folks.
