out of reitrement maybe

Post by Trevor » Sun Jan 18, 2015 1:18 am

Right so if Scott Stokley is coming out of retirement I though maybe I would too. So the question is what division should I play in? Have played twice since the Caledonian Open in 2008, once last weekend and once about 2 years ago. Used to scratch around 5-15 place in the open divsion as it was called back then. I gather things have moved on since then. So sandbag it in the ams or donate my entry to pros of today?

They don't make some of my discs anymore!

I think you would do best to play Adv Am mate. After such a long lay off it's unlikely your rating (which perhaps might have peaked around 960 15 years ago) is over the 920 cut-off these days, but it's unlike to have fallen under the 850 threshold for Int.

Thanks, Nick.

Trev, I'd still say Adv Am to be competitive.

Looks like Trev is still officially rated 922 so no Adv Am on the BDGA Tour at least?

Only a flawed system would enforce that.

Playing Masters, at least in your first tournament, would seem to be the best answer - it's legit so it won't put anyone's back up, there's a wide range of abilities playing there and your rating can readjust once the scores go into the PDGA.
