Not quite as awkward as being on the open division and shooting an 80. Close though. Maybe my punishment for poor weather prediction?

Thanks to everyone that turned up to play this event. I really hope that everyone enjoyed the course (except the weather).

Apologies for not getting the scores up sooner but myself Lloyd and Phil were still on the course until 9pm last night getting all of our equipment in.

Hope you all have a great year.

Great tournament, Tweedy.
Fantastic hospitality and set-up you have there.
Thanks to Lloyd for the lift to the train station - I even managed to get home safely without breaking the trophy!
Looking forward to playing the course on a warm, sunny day...

Thanks that was a fun weekend and Sunday rounds were certainly memorable.
My favourite hole was 10, I was perplexed at the tee and didn't have a drive that could net me a three. I took a 4 once in the 1st round(?) but found nothing but OB and high hole scores going for the 3 from then forward.
Cheers

Points that were either raised to me or struck me as playing/looking back

1. Why was the football pitch OB on 15/16 Tower drop and bowled over
Hopefully sunday morning showed why, it would be impossible to play your shot whilst a game was on so it was to provide a level playing field throughout the toournament not to punish errant shots. I suppose some form of bunc'r rule could have been used instead but hey ho, throw better!

2. bunker too close behind Technicians basket Hole 13
This one was stated a lot. I tend to agree but it's an interesting one for debate. There was also some misinformation around it. There is no rule that a basket can't be placed that close to an OB enclosure (it's about the same distance as hole 15 at QP is to the OB over a meter and a half) There is a guideline from the Disc golf course designers group (who advise the PDGA on course standards) that a basket won't be closer than 3 m and preferably 5 unless exceptional circumstances.
I asked a number of locals all of whom play it regularly and all of whom would expect to take at least a third of 2's on the hole. None of them ever remembered going OB in that bunker or even considering it as an issue. I have always gone for the 2 from anywhere past the oak tree and have never been OB. It is certainly unfortunate to hit chains and drop and roll OB but how is that any different from rolling into the woods at QP on hole 12 after hitting chains?
There is something about the short nature of that hole that makes the closeness of that OB feel justified to me although probably it should have been another meter or so away.
It was also said that it just became a boring lay up as no one would take on the long putt - my own experience and that of the regulars and also it being the second most birdied hole on the course on the weekend don't really stand up to this claim though, similar to Poplar Demand, you can attack and risk the OB or layup and take the easy 3, yours is the choice.

3. No birdies on holes 2,3, or 12 and only 1 on 11, are they too tough as par 3's? Do they need tweaking
For 2 and 3 I would say no. If we had more players capable of routinely throwing 120 m in the field then 2 would have seen some birdies as it were there were probably only 3 players capable of it this weekend. I think this is a true 3 rather than a 3 and a half. Same goes for hole 3 which whilst long is definitely attackable in one, especially to longer throwers, again yes it's long (135 meters) but it's achievable (Tweed should have birdied it but missed his 6 m putt)
Hole 12 I loved the topography of the hole and the basket placement I thought was great, whether this was by accident or design. However the tee position did put this in the category of a 3 and half hole, no one was going to 2 it, but bigger throwers would expect to make the 4o meter odd upshot for the three. I think the tee can be lenghtened either down the path or into the trees to make a more real par 4 challenge. Great hole in potential though despite being wide open.
Hole 11, was just far too rewarding to a longer thrower and too punitive to a shorter thrower. Only 1 2 was recorded all weekend despite generally having a tailwind at the hole. Anyone that could throw over the bushes (I was just in that category) had a very easy up and down for a three. Anyone short of the bushes had a very tough up and down for three. I don't see a lot of challenge to better players on that hole. The tee position up near the basket of 10 though that Tweed and I looked at could be very interesting!! This hole for me definitely needed a tweak.

4. Hole 16 Bowled Over
Open division only shot 3's and 4's smallest scoring spread of any hole - This needs a change but not sure what.

5. Hole 5 Pinball Wizard
Only 2 2's on an 89 m hole suggests it's a bit too tough (and one of those was a long putt from Stoddy). We could clear a few of the lower branches from the front two trees opening up the two backhand lines a bit, they are very tight.

Just some thoughts.

Good point, no, I'll fix. It's because I took the places from the PDGA site which does...
