Nationals 2014 - Whitcombe 25/26th Oct

Post by Phil Wood » Mon Sep 22, 2014 2:44 pm

Nationals 2014 is going to be held at Whitcombe, Matt Cutler and myself are going to be joining forces to run a tournament with a real community feel.

Details at the moment are relatively limited, though we will endeavour to give people as much time as possible to get their plans in order.

We are very lucky to be able to use the Beaminster hills as the back drop for our 2014 season finale and as such, we will be looking to make a healthy donations to the Green’s charity of choice – FODAD by way of thanks.

There will be the annual dinner and prize giving on the Saturday night at a suitable local establishment, votes for TD of year, spirit of the game etc will be released after Burnlaw.

In order to help us manage expectation and get some plans afoot, we are asking that if you intend on playing to please let us know,

The current top 15+1 (pre burnlaw)

Matt Cutler - Yes
Dan Ryan
Derek Robbins

Jester Wilson - Yes

Oh no! Places are filled by rating not PowerStats... :( Really hoped I might have just sneaked into qualification for my 1st proper Nationals....

Ah well: it's still Whitcombe! :D

Top 15 I think are powerstats filled with 16th place going to Amstats winner. If some people do not take up their spot, those are filled by Player Rating.

I'd certainly like to attend, but have to find someone to staff QP before I can confirm.

I Think I now have to attend the nationals. Not that I wouldn't have come considering it's at Whitcombe. :D

I'll confirm as soon as possible about getting there on the friday to help out but I may have to work. :(

Cheers,

Dan

Final tour stats:
http://tour.bdga.org.uk/

I'm quite chuffed to have qualified for top 16 with only 2 events played, but I'm declining my spot.

So the top 16 is confirmed, I'll get a list of confirmed players and the players that might be in line to fill in.

The plan For the 'Not the nationals' is taking shape. We will be playing two days of match play, this is largely dependant on numbers but the plan is Saturday to be random draw, creating two pools for the Sunday. These will then be play off "trees" to give us a overall winner. The matches will be a mix of 9 and 18 hole games again depending on numbers. In the event of uneven numbers the soloist will have a chance to set a stroke play score over the 9 holes. There will be plenty of ctp and long putt chances too.
