Baskets and some tees are due to be installed next week - whether we are running nationals though is a whole different story! I've got a baby on the way in September so won't be involved and Tweed is stupid busy with stuff at the moment as well. If there was anyone else wanting to run it there should be a course there to use - Andrew Douse maybe? Bruce? Gary? Collaborative effort? I can't see it being that hard to put together. Council are very open to the idea of events, only thing I think the club would insist on is a levy per head of player to pay to the BDGA development, I don't believe there would be any green fees required.

I'm more than happy to help out but can't commit to lead on it, I will probably have some form of sleep deprived psychosis by then....

Edit* Not sure what courses will be available but I would hope the whole blue course will be in and at the time of year the championship layout should be playable, enjoy  . i don't think we can do camping at the course without quite a large layout but there are campsites near by and lots of hotels/b+ b's. Evening meal and awards would be easy to sort and the Nationals format runs itself, NTN's is slightly trickier but I personally always liked the version we ran at QP of 2 rounds stroke play on the Saturday to get seeds with 2 rounds of match play on the Sunday with different groupings, you get best of both worlds this way. Odd numbers make it difficult but there are ways around it.

NATIONALS 2014

Thanks to all with your patience on this, as many of you know I had been hoping to confirm Bedworth as hosts of our 2014 Nationals. Unfortunately Tweedy, Hatton the team are not in a position to run the event they would like, so im making some quick re-arrangements.

Whilst i cannot yet confirm venue - hopefully will do later this week - I can confirm the date of Nationals will be 25/26th October.

Keep an eye out for more details later this week.

Phil

Ok, so I have been working on a few alternates for nationals but they have all fallen through; Bedworth, mount edgecoombe and mendips.

We have one more iron in the fire before we have to resort to a back up location of either Bristol-Ashton court or croydon.

I will hopefully here back on Wednesday eve about my hopeful venue, sorry for the secrecy but I don't want to raise hopes!

If we do resort to the back ups, what would people prefer?

Look forward to hearing what you might have in store Phil. In terms of the alternative venue, based on Croydon already having held 2 big tournaments and there being 2 more one dayers coming up (SEMDGS & Croydon Cup) I'd quite like the idea of doing Bristol.

Huge thanks to Matt Cutler and Angus Green for sorting. More details to follow.

Well done for organising Phil.
Unfortunately there is no way I can make that long a journey with no holiday left. Good luck to everyone who gets there. If you've never played there before and you can get there you are in for a treat.
