Tournament feedback mailbox

Post by bruce » Wed Jul 31, 2013 1:26 pm

Announcing the new tournament feedback mailbox: tourfeedback@bdga.org.uk

We've all been there; you go to an event, finish the first round, go for lunch and the TD has only ordered egg and cabbage sandwiches. Or you turn up on Sunday morning to find that although the invite said tee off at 9.30, it was changed to 9 after you left, and you've got to sprint off to your tee with no chance to warm up. Or you thought that the OB rule on hole 11 was confusing and needed explaining better at the players meeting.

Well now you have a way to have a moan about it. Email the mailbox which goes to Director of Competitions Phil Wood and myself. We will discuss the feedback provided, anonymise and sanitise anything we think is valid, and feed it back to the TD. The idea is that this can be something of a no holds barred system where you don't have to worry about upsetting the TD, we can ask you for clarifications, decide how best to approach fixing the issue and whether it's something that should be communicated to all TDs via the Tour Guide.

Alternatively, maybe you got the best trophy you've ever seen in your life, and you want the TD to know how much you appreciate it.We'll pass on those comments too, praise is always well received!

Of course you are welcome to post stuff on here and to the TD directly, but hopefully by having it centralised we can push for higher standards across the board.
[Standard post disclaimer] My posts are never intended to undermine the work of the Board or individuals putting in effort to grow the sport, they are my honest thoughts on the best ways to grow the game

Is there also an address where TD's can moan about the players?

we've all been there 4 days to go to the event you've been working really hard for months in the planning and only 30 players have registered, and you're potentially going to make a loss.
you have to chase people for money when the event was supposed to be prepaid.
players drop out and you only find out 20 mins before the players meeting.
being asked stupid questions clearly answered in the invite by text at midnight on the friday night....

Do you remember the days before mobile phones and emails? then people would actually READ instructions. I know I'm guilty of asking dumb questions. Technology has made it easy for us to disengage from thinking and rely on others.
