Just checked the spreadsheet to find everything lost! Something weird happened in June 19th to erase all the data, so I've restored it back to June 18th. If you registered on or after June 18th, please check and if necessary re-register. Sorry about this!

Hooray, that's two dozen players registered! (I was getting worried that no-one wanted to challenge the hills of Whitcombe! :) ) Lots of new names, which is brilliant, but plenty of the golden oldies yet to register. You coming??

just a note on getting to and from the Farm, the tunnel between Mosterton and Beaminster is closed following a land slide. it is due to reopen in late July, whether or not that is before or after the 19/20/21 July is not clear from what I can research.

Access to the farm is from the A356, either via the diversionary route into Beaminster, or down the B3163 which goes past the farm.

See you in a few weeks!

Payment is in the airwaves as I write..... Really looking forward to a summer whitcombe! I was wondering if by any chance camping on the Sunday night was an option ?
And also are we to enter the camping field via the main drive or the lower entrance?

Can anyone post a course layout at all?

I'm working on it (course map). Trying to plan for as many holes under trees as I can to keep you lot out of the sun ('cos it is HOT!). There's also the sheep to plan around (we're waiting for the shearers!), long grass and a foal! It is coming together, honest . . .

CAMPING - will be in the Orchard (the field next to the barns), so the entry will be via the farm's main entrance (not down the lane).

TUESDAY

Spent two hours pre-breakfast strimming this morning, while it was still lovely and cool. Next excitment is the news that the shearers ARE coming tomorrow, so we'll be rounding up the sheep later and building pens. The sheep have done an excellent job preparing the course, the grass is nice and short and they've even eaten a lot of nettles!

Change of plan on entrance - now that the sheep will have been sheared, we'll be using the lane entrance for the tournament, not the main farm entrance. Signs will be posted by Friday.

I'm still not sure on one hole, so still no course map. My indecision is simply a question of time: will we have enough time to clear out a lot of undergrowth and trees to make a new hole in Saunders . . . watch this space. That said, the forecast for Saturday is a little cooler and some cloud, so maybe I don't need to be so worried about keeping you all out of the sun.

And it was distinctly chilly last evening once the sun went down - so don't forget your fleeces!

More news tomorrow.

If the shearers are coming this week, it sounds as if there will be plenty of fleeces to go around!

I'm not sure you'd want to wear one of the those fleeces - they're very smelly :D
