being hyper critical here but I found holes 7-13 a little uninspiring to be honest, I felt it was a shame not to use some of the excellent holes on johnny's croft or some longer holes in the area off the back of the hill.

just a thought....

Like Matt I wold prefer to play the holes at the back, in particular the one that shoots towards the back of the croft, over the drop off to the basket sitting on top of the rocks.

Could we play a longer course in the mornings, and shorter in the afternoons?

MY APOLOGIES.

Confusion is over though. We all got mixed up between last year's invite, this year and the web site. The dates are 30th and 31st March 2013.
Is it possible to remove the invite from this thread and I will edit and replace with correct dates. Everything else is correct.

Website is being updated this week. The invitation availbale is from last year - so ignore that please.

INVITATION

Post by Charlie Mead » Wed Oct 24, 2012 12:59 pm

British Disc Golf Association
E-mail: Info@BDGA.org.uk
Website: http://www.BDGA.org.uk
Mull Website: http://www.mulldiscgolf.org.uk

Invitation: National Tour 3
OPEN, MASTERS & AMATEUR

Fanmore Discgolf is pleased to Host the
21st Classic Scottish Open
Friday 29th - Sunday 31st March 2013 - Fanmore, Isle of Mull, PA73 6LX, Scotland.
Tournament Director – Charlie Mead

This year sees the 21st Isle of Mull Disc Golf Championships and Scottish Open. As last year the event will be on the Easter holiday weekend, this year at the end of March, giving all players more opportunity and flexibility in coming to this beautiful island, visiting its wonders and playing at this long established event on the BDGA Tour. As last year we will be combining with Burnlaw to make this a Northern Flights special – another chance to play the two northernmost BDGA Tour events on back to back weekends. Look out for a special 21st Birthday present for all those coming this year.

This event is ripe with history – from its inception in 1981 through to the first event in 1992, moving from snow posts to baskets, surviving the foot and mouth year and where many overseas players as well as Tour players have graced the slopes of Gremlin’s Croft. And in our 21st year we are hoping to use the full European Championship course set up with tee-mats, new tee-signs and maximum exposure for our birthday party!

The course at Fanmore is set over steep croft land, with outstandingly beautiful coastal and mountain views all around, and totally exposed to the weather. There are few trees, but with the elevation changes and wind, the course provides a huge challenge to players, the likes of which you will not experience anywhere else on the British Tour. Once again we offer every player four rounds of 18 holes on the Classic 18 on Gremlin’s Croft – 15 Up and 3 Down – and the fifth Mull Masters Division Championship!

We hope we have re-established Mull as an essential part of the BDGA Tour. The opportunity to visit one of Scotland’s most beautiful islands - to experience the hospitality of locals, their food, drink and generosity as well as play a few holes of golf – should not be missed. It is a great location for an extended break with family and friends – last year we had 4 father-son pairings – it would be great to see more this year! And the chance to win Gremlin’s Chutney is open to everyone!
Keep up to date with what is happening on the BDGA Forum ‘Mull’ thread (viewtopic.php?t=1444)

Happy Christmas to all you Mullers of years gone bye and years to come. Have a great Christmas break and don't forget to plan for your 21st Mull Disc Golf Open in March 2013.

And whilst you are sorting through the memories of Christmas Past if you come across any photos, memorabilia, results of Mull from 1992 onwards please put them to one side and send them to me in the New Year (all originals will be sent back) so we can put together the 21st Birthday Book.....

As it's the tournaments 21st how about Dunc explains how he scored a 21 on hole 1 last year? That'd make for some interesting reading.

Would anyone have space in their car between the Hostel and the Course on Sat & Sun? If so I'm planning to train/bike it. I'm not cycling form Glasgow this year though!

WE are now at 21 registered players - so if you are coming and haven't told me yet (not a mind reader) then get in touch.

Nige Williams and I are working on development of the whole course. We will have both the Blue and White course up and running, with T-mats, signage and a nice player package for everyone.

And don't forget - play Burnlaw and Mull and get a £5 discount from each!

Trophy Returns

Post by Charlie Mead » Wed Feb 20, 2013 8:43 pm

Dear All,

Mull is but 6 weeks away and we are finalising all the details. Mull has more perpetual trophies than any other event on the Tour and its always a disappointment when we can't give them out coz last years winners have forgotten to bring them or not arranged for them to be there. So, can all the below please make sure they manage to get the Trophies to Gremlin or myself before Sunday 31st March, all suitably inscribed.

If there are any names and dates missing please get in touch and we can arrange for that to happen.

Thanks.
