Can you also confirm that any disc that lands within the boundaries of the "Chairmans" tree on hole 2 is instantly forefeited to a Mr Richard Wood?

Yup: drive (1 shot), approach and miss mando (1 + 1 penalty shot), go to DZ and thrown approach which goes in (1 shot). Total 4 shots.

I thought that meant that on your second shot you missed the mando but that shot (that missed the mando) made it into the basket. The answer is that this shot doesn't count and play proceeds from the dz as your fourth shot.

Ah right, I see what you mean, Ali. I didn't read it like this as I thought it was obvious that if any mando is missed it doesn't matter where the disc ends up!

Your interpretation is correct.

Can I remind anyone planning to attend the Croydon Cyclone to renew your BDGA membership before you show up.

Please fill in the online form at http://bdga.org.uk/join-the-bdga .

You will need to do this to be eligible for the £5 tournament discount, and also if you expect to get PDGA rating stats...

Couple of questions from a cyclone (and tour) newbie...
On Friday will anyone be about on the course? I'm turning up sometime early afternoon ish and would love to play the course with someone who knows it?
And As I'm staying in the scout hut, from what sort of time is it open? As I'm probably being dropped off and don't fancy carrying everything round the course..
Cheers

Thanks, Mark, but that's actually an incorrect time.

Played the course a couple of times on Saturday, first time for me this year. It's in cracking condition. Grass nice and short, beautiful fairways, no leaves out yet so visibility is great - you'll probably see lines you didn't know were there before!

New OB line down #5 Hedgehog is about 18y wide all the way. Plenty of space to work with, but still easy to go OB left if you get any air under it or OB right too it you catch it too thick! Best just go down the middle. :)

I didn’t know what new #6 Indecision would be, turns out it’s pretty good! Uphill drive into a well-guarded green with two routes to choose from. It’s a good challenge and a great replacement for the previous tunnel shot.

The tee on #7 Furthest Afield has moved about 7y right. Still the same decision required about how much of the OB to try and carry, but a harder shot now that the angle to the OB is steeper and you can’t just go along it and fade safe.

The new tee position on #8 The Long Drop is an improvement on last year. Now out of range to all but the longest thumber throwers, it needs a craftier shot to land it somewhere it won’t shoot off OB on the short grass.

I had the rangefinder out and also a new digital clinometer, so all the data in the table on the course map is being updated. I’ll get a new map up here as soon as I can.

Nice commentary Jester. I'm looking forward to seeing the park without leaves!

And as always, your map is a pleasure to look at!

Probably also worth mentioning the very large tree that fell across the fairway of 12 during the gales a few months ago. Changes the hole a little...

That's right, well-remember, Tom.

The tree was the huge-trunked fella on the right, about 3/4 of the way up the fairway.

Andrew,

Rich Wood will be down the course putting out the ob ropes and generally pottering about, he will have his car there. Im sure if you meet him down the course, he will be happy for you to stow your bags in there. Save you carrying them about!

Updated map and course info.

Amongst other changes and updates I've adding data on the map for 324 and Hangman's. These holes play over a hill and cannot be ranged with one measurement, so this has been achieved via a waypoint (the mando on the former, the Hangman's tree on the latter). The two lengths and rises/drops are added together to get the numbers quoted in the table.

I don't know if this is helpful or just adds unnecessary clutter? (It doesn't help that this image is being compressed so the added text is unreadable. It is readable on the A4 map however).

Feedback welcomed.
