Regular Club Days At Burnlaw

Post by Scuttler » Mon Jan 21, 2008 1:31 pm

In case you hadn't noticed, Chris O'Brien and the Catch The Spirit guys have set up a regular club day at Burnlaw.

Good to see the course getting used outside of Tour tournaments. This can only encourage the local junior scene. And it might stop Vic complaining about the junior tee / drop zone rule at Tour events. :D

Autumn to Spring

Post by ChrisOBrien » Mon Aug 04, 2008 5:28 am

The Burnlaw club will kick back into action after the Equinox. Looking back over the past 9 months, we played every other Saturday, without exception throughout the winter and into early spring. Then the tour events took a priority from end March, so we played as and when. In the early summer we played some evenings, until it got overgrown in June.

So looking forward, we will play every other Saturday from October 4th. Tee off 10am.

We're gonna make more effort to get new players down there too. So hopefully the Snowbow in the spring will be packed with Geordie disc golfers (unless there's a home game at St James' Park!)

If you're reading this you may like to know that the Catch the Spirit Shop is even more stocked up than ever, so spin buy:

Post by ChrisOBrien » Sat Sep 27, 2008 2:39 pm

We have new chains for hole 2. These will be going on during October. Barry the Basket will then return to the Universe.

Great news! Well done on getting that last basket up to the same standard as the rest. :)

Burnlaw on form

Post by ChrisOBrien » Wed Sep 02, 2009 8:51 pm

Update,

Rick and I have strimmed out greens and put in place tee markers. we have also moved tee of 10 beck 10m to a nice level patch higher up, that brings the OB more into play and makes it a very 'rewarding' birdie hole, rather than a 'should' birdie hole.

We gonna play regular from now on right through the winter... Vics on good form and there are more resident Burnlaw-ites playing these days....

It's positive vibe galore at Burnlaw... hope to see you at the equinox...!

muddy and babies and new year celebration

Post by ChrisOBrien » Sat Dec 12, 2009 11:05 am

Burnlaw update:

It's very muddy, so looking forward to a frosty day for Disc Golf.

There have been babies born at Burnlaw lately.

Jodi and Gemma had a girl 6 weeks back (they live in the new caravan next to Vic).

Oran and Bryony had a girl about 4 weeks back (they have moved to the new house built be Oran - this is right next to the 15th Tee).

Both babies, mothers and fathers are in good health.

Both Babaies will begin their Disc Golf training in the spring and have expressed that they would prefer 1 day tournaments at first. They would also like to represent team 'North' in future matches against Croydon, QP and Essex etc... so watch this space.

Also, there will be a 36 hour-long party at New Years!

New Years eve - schedule to include seeing in the new year in Allendale with people walking around with burning tar on their head then a big fire in the central square.

New Years day - round of Disc Golf

New Years day evening - My 33rd Birthday & New Years party part II

It's early days in the planning - so far definate attendees are Vic, Rick and myself...!

Welcome to join us.

Chris, is this running. I would be interested but would probably need to drive up Friday night and stay over somewhere. Any ideas?
