Nice one Andrew, drag some of the others out as well!

Elmstead Woods (post code for google maps: SE9 4AU) meet just at the entry for the woods.

Sunday 8th June

9.30 players meet for a 10am first round. - lunch 30mins after last group is in.

The course is being finalised this weekend, I will get maps etc sorted for all groups. We are planning on flagging and marking the routes between holes. We will also show as many players as we can quikcly in the morning so no-one gets lost!

On the nice side, there will be no roped off OB – the perimeter wall of the woods are OB – and currently there are no planned mandos. There are so many trees its difficult enough! – should keep the players meet short.

If you have a portable basket, please bring it!

Pints and prize giving to be held at: http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/ ... hislehurst

Old Hill, Chislehurst, Kent, BR7 5LZ

IMPORTANT

There are no public toilets on the course, the nearest public loo is at Elmstead Woods station (5mins drive away) make sure you plan appropriately.

There are no shops in the immediate vicinity of the course, please bring your lunch so we can keep the break down to a minimum.

SEMDGS 2014 prize draw!

When Steve and Lina were in Florida earlier this year, they stumbled upon one Paul McBeth in the same disc store. They quickly grabbed some discs and Lina asked Paul to sign them for her. Steve and Lina have kindly donated a Paul McBeth signed Sparkle Legacy Icon as a prize for the SEMDGS.

To win this great prize, all you need to do is play in at least 4 SEMDGS events and your name will be in the hat!

Thanky ou so much to Steve and Lina for the kind donation, no better time to open your SEMDGS account than this sunday at Elmstead Woods!

Great day yesterday at Elmstead Woods, we had a total of 36 players turn up to play.

The course played better than i expected, every hole pretty much giving a chance of a 2 but also so many trees that easily get 4's 5's and 6's!

I for one was very greatful for the tree cover, it meant playing in hot conditions was really enjoyable and i wasnt overheating. It was funny to walk onto hole 2 - the only hole with no tree cover - so see the sun and have the temperature go up by 5 degrees.

i will sort full results later but the winners were:

Open - Jester
Ad Am - Russ Westwood
Int Am - Phil Harrison
Womens - Lisa Gregory

Would be great to hear peoples thoughts on the course, we know its not perfect but i feel its a great start!

Haha, thanks for updating the results. It was some of the better golf I've managed in a while, wanted to make sure I got those rated. :)

Well done on organising things and getting everyone out for a great event. I really enjoyed the course, hole 4 in particular was perfect and I also liked 3, 5, 8 and 9. Some of the others I'd say were a touch on the short side, or unnecessarily blind from the tee. This sort of woods is the perfect place to have dual tees for short and long holes. e.g. I'd love to play 3 from 50-70 yards further back along the road as a tough par 4.

Looking forward to playing some more golf at Elmstead soon.

for a "first cut" course i think it was better than i expected. I agree some of the holes need another 20-30 yards on to make them really challenging.

The area around hole 4 is great and there could easily be another 2-3 holes in there extending the course to 11+ holes. It would also be great to work with the locals to open up some space between 4 and 5 to break that walk up.

The push now will be to get a course design finalised and get some baskets in the ground!

Bang on! All the locals we met and spoke to while playing were well up for a course going in. They all liked the idea of the woods being 'used' more to discourage anti-social behaviour.

Ok cool, thanks Phil. Being that August is now just a week away though, is there any chance of putting a date against this at least so we can try to plan other activities too?
