I'd prefer to see everyone who turns up getting some involvement, even if this is playing the singles and not the doubles or vice versa. It's difficult to negotiate time to play with the other halves and once on the calendar most people I think will want to be involved to some degree.

We used to do it on the basis of volunteers to do this first and then if no volunteers the last to sign up. Could be captains pick though if you'd prefer.

Think the 4 divisions probably has a fairer balance than doing three, although without seeing team lists it's hard to say for sure.

don't like the idea of arbitary cut offs based on PDGA ratings.

Of course the team with less players could just play some 2 v 1 match ups and 2's v 3's in the doubles,

As for this, it's not a PDGA event, it's a captains pick event. PDGA ratings are a guide to ability only based on rounds played all over the country. The Captain may know that one of his players could be a huge wild card as his PDGA rating is rubbish 'cause he can't play away from home, but get them on their home course and suddenly they play 3 - 4 shots better a round than their rating would suggest ( a powerful weapon to have in the armory) . I can think of a number of players on both teams that this would relate to. As such the ratings are a guide only for the Captains to make their final decisions on division breaks, there has never been an arbitary division break and personally I would prefer to keep it this way, it adds another tactical element to the event.

Whatever we do its going to be difficult to match the two teams because we literally have everyone out this time!!

Some might say that the Lionhearts may have angered the QP Rangers!!

If they want the cup theres going to be one hell of a fight to get it.

Oh yes also , as its our home event I've decided to make some rules , unfortunately there will be no American Left handed shots allowed ;-) and no forehands either !!

Just to join in with quoting me...

I'll compete if the numbers add up, but if there are more QP than Croydon I'll just play casually and take some Photo's.

If Croydon are having trouble with numbers, I will sit this round out. A Saturday at home would make a welcome change.....

I'll go on the reserves list, i get to play most weekends and i'm only down the road, if someone travelling a further distance wants to compete then so be it, i'll still be at the course anyway so a suggestion of playing match play against another qp player would keep me busy.

Thought this was a hugely competitive event with bragging rights for winners - individual and team! Has our new captain developed a liberal approach to the game and just wants a nice afternoon with closely matched pairings? We have 24 - if they can't match that we get a point for every player they can't produce. Don't turn up - can't score! Given QP has a deficit from the first leg I would have thought any competitive edge would be an advantage though I suspect QP has a its best players out and that should be enough anyway......

However, if all you want is a stroll in the park, on a level playing field, in a game of two halves then may the best cliche win....

I think someone should perhaps remind Mr Mead how accommodating Croydon have been when QP have turned up with 2 fewer players due to last minute drop outs in the last leg. Tweedy and I will agree numbers and let you all know the outcome. Croydon Captain over an out!
