Re: Club league idea

OK, the way I can see this working is to have two possible declarations per player - the first is Club, the second is Team. e.g. my Club is CDGC but I could form a Team with whoever I want - let's say we form a BDGA Board team. Then we have two separate league tables - one for clubs, one for teams. ...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal

Cheers Tom! What does the colour coding signify? Couldn't quite work it out Basically random! When creating new entries I couldn't match the colours from the spectrum so I went random instead. I've just worked out how to copy the colour code from one to another, so I've put all the one-day tourname...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal

Phil, I really think we need some kind of shared space for TDs (private Facebook group?) to put proposed dates out to each other. We're already seeing potential clashes with Manchester and Whitcombe maybe on the same weekend (not that that is necessarily the end of the world), and at the moment eac...

Re: The 25th Isle of Mull Classic, EuroTour #2, 15/16 April 2017

Hi Jonny,

BDGA and PDGA membership are now completely separate.

As Mull is a B-tier PDGA tournament you also need PDGA membership to register. (Although I'm guessing if you enter the 'parallel' non-EuroTour event, then you won't need PDGA membership)

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal

And the general consensus is that Sam robbed Joe of the MA1 title at Myerscough, and I've heard the same thing regarding the MODS title. Where as I see it Joe was just bested by another amateur player and in an almighty performance took second. I've never seen anything like it, joking is one thing ...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal

Ma2 is run but we put a cap on it at 870 and below at the start of the season (same as we always have) we allow people to stay in though once they are in (it's unlikely anyone will go over 935 by the end of the season) Same goes for ma3 but we have a cap at 820, with the PDga limit actually 80 poin...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal

Then you also have situations with players without PDGA ratings (*cough* Sam Thomas) entering the division and subsequently being shown to be rated way above everyone else. I think everyone (perhaps bar Sam) agreed that that was ridiculous. Sorry Tom but I find this statement repugnant and quite be...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal

Not quite correct. From PDGA website: " PDGA guidelines stipulate that events offering registration for a specific division must hold that division if there are four or more registered competitors. TDs will often make exceptions for the Women’s and Junior divisions to encourage attendance as partici...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal

Well summarised Tom. Thanks! :) There are merits and demerits to all systems proposed so far. I'm still satisfied with the current proposal... I think that if you put some minimum points hurdle on the AM1 qualification to British Championships that could keep people honest. Bruce suggested minimum ...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal

Thought I'd try and summarise the thought process that has got us (BDGA) to where we are now, in the hope of clarifying why certain decisions were made... Premise There is appetite for a season-long Amateur competition. Problem (describing where we were last season) A top Amateur division that has a...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal

I think the board's solution is the most elegant one. Incidentally I do get the possible objections, as in why is someone with 5 MA2 points more deserving of an invite to BCs than the MA3 with 205 points, but that's simply the nature of divisions. It doesn't matter that Newcastle have 46 points at ...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal

Hi Del, we certainly listened and I took forward what I understood of your plan, which is evidently slightly different to what you meant, but will hopefully still work. Our intention is to list all Ams, ranked first by division and then by points, for example: 1 Player 1 MA1 115pts 2 Player 2 MA1 65...

Re: BDGA/PDGA membership post-2016 and old 5-YEAR DEAL

BOF had a point, I also have an extended membership paid for up front with the BDGA, and at a higher rate than will be in place ongoing. I'm not interested in a refund but I am not keen to pay again! Hmmm, bit confused by that - as far as I can tell you've been renewing yearly since 2014. There are...

Re: BDGA/PDGA membership post-2016 and old 5-YEAR DEAL

Hi BOF,

don't worry, we're aware people will need memberships! We're just finalising the new membership form for the new website.

PDGA membership is now up to individuals. It does not affect ability to play in BDGA events.

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal

Nationals will still be the premier matchplay event and the physical trophy will continue to be awarded. " Nationals is the top 16 match-play event, which will now be played at the start of the season (next one Oct 2017) and places will be allocated based on PDGA rating. British Championships is the...

Re: New Course 'Starter Pack'

Just realised you may not be the 'Paul H' I'm thinking of and therefore might not know who all those people are! For reference, the disc golf course installers currently operating in the UK, that the BDGA is aware of, are: (in alphabetical order) Catch The Spirit - Chris O’Brien chris@catchthespirit...

Re: New Course 'Starter Pack'

Hi Paul, it is something we have talked about trying to produce but haven't managed to yet - partly because all that expertise is already out there in the brains of the course installers - who you would probably ultimately need to get in touch with to order baskets etc. If you asked those questions ...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal

As a TD you can offer which divisions you choose - to attract players competing for the places at the BCs I'd suggest MPO, FPO, MPM, MA1 and MJ1 are essential. Beyond that it's up to you.
