Re: Inclusiveness

Wrt Seamus's suggestion, I would hazard a guess that there will be PDGA sanctioned events at well over 20 unique venues this year, albeit that some will be temporary and some may not be 18s. I'm really not sure the current stats model is any use over that many events. Additionally while that is more...

Re: Inclusiveness

With D I don't see what the BDGA is doing? Although Seamus is suggesting retaining some kind of power stats I think?

Re: Inclusiveness

Opinions were sought including yours and you declined. So responsibility has not been offloaded in any way. I certainly did not! I said I would happily give my opinion but I couldn't promise time anymore, hence me standing down. That was the last I heard of it And you know what, to add to that my o...

Re: Inclusiveness

The point is Bonjour that the regional series currently are completely unconnected to the BDGA. I'd assume that all the races you enter are sanctioned by the NGB?

I think it's a sensible aim to expect 95+% of DG competitions to be sanction/affiliated by the BDGA

Re: Inclusiveness

Sorry if I'm coming across as harsh, but when you have a whole bunch of experienced people who are active in the disc golf scene asking 'what is happening?" then that tells me that the communication and engagement is failing

Re: Inclusiveness

Collective decision making is a process that starts with seeking opinions and engaging with ideas, that is what I consistently strived to do. Independently coming up with some options and then holding a vote is not an inclusive way of working, it's a way of offloading responsibility for the decision...

Re: Inclusiveness

Additional thoughts on this forum and the AGM. Historically ideas and debates have taken place on here, then the board has taken decisions. Where decisions required a membership vote that has taken place at the AGM in the form of a proposal prepared prior to the AGM. The AGM is a very poor place for...

Re: Inclusiveness

In this thread http://www.bdga.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1910 there was a vigorous discussion of possibilities for the BDGA which was perhaps short on clarity and viable possibilities but full of heated opinions. The only thing that is clear is that whatever we do, we're not going to please ...

Re: BDGA tour #10 Mendip Masters

I'm not sure I'd say unfair. On the face of it the cost is actually very reasonable for the service provided, £35 per day for full board accommodation (albeit camping) even if you don't do Friday, more like £20 per day if you do Friday, with a disc golf tournament thrown in. Disc golf events, BDGA T...

Re: BDGA tour #10 Mendip Masters

It's certainly a different entry model. Works for me, but would seem to be particularly harsh for locals

Re: Inclusiveness

James is likely still in Finland, with little Internet access. Frankly I wouldn't have been responding to this until my return during my tenure, so maybe cut a little slack? Even when I was around, I frequently took a few days to compose a response. These are not trivially answered questions, if the...

Re: EC 2018 (and beyond) Team GB Qualification

Did some quick analytics. If you sort the Open players by rating, you could have expected: James: =31st Dan: 43rd Si: 46th Chris: 59th Actual results: Chris: =51st (Delta +8 places) Dan: 53rd (-10) James: =54th (-23) Si: =68th (-22) I then averaged all players 3 round ratings to determine a performa...

Re: BDGA Tour #8 - Essex open 2016

Competition manual 1.8 D

Any eligible player who chooses not to participate in a semi-final or final shall receive cash or prizes equal to finishing last in the appropriate cut.
Of course what you do with the stats is up to you!

Re: BDGA Tour #8 - Essex open 2016

Tom, I believe the PDGA approach is that Seonidh 'enters' the final, but then DNFs the final, and would still be awarded last place in the final. Jester is correct that his final spot should not be granted to anyone else, it should have been a 4 person final

All the round ratings and player ratings are there. Ratings inflation is an enduring myth that is disproved by a decade of international results

Re: EC 2018 (and beyond) Team GB Qualification

A) No B) Yes C) Yes, it's likely that this caused b) Seamus makes a valid point, but I do think that longer tougher courses would go some way help to improve playing standards. There is a general culture of inclusiveness in the UK scene, which is good, but when it materialises as watered down course...
