Re: Club league idea

A perpetual club trophy might be quite nice, but as nowhere has a clubhouse to display it in, it may well be unnecessary.

Clubs may choose to reward their outstanding players separately

Re: Announcement 131116

What do people think? Where's the right balance? I'm waiting on an answer from Phil regarding Bdga tournament sanctioning, plus I want someone else to pipe up first so I tell them they're wrong. Cheers :D My view is that I think picking a player in form far enough in advance of the event that they ...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal

I meant a 'proposed dates' one for TD's to use. I think the TD-to-TD communication piece is vital also, the way I would see it working is: TD adds proposed date to (private) calendar, posts on the FB group their intent to host an event on that date and some details (Tier, part of local tour etc), an...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal

I would hope that TD's across the UK could work in a spirit of cooperation and understanding with each other. Where major events have been scheduled, other TDs should do their best to avoid those dates in the near locality at a minimum. TDs should make an effort to publish planned dates as early as ...

Re: Announcement 131116

I don't remember any open controversy/continued discussion regarding the the team Matt Cutler put together because his system of team selection was completely objective. As an example, You can easily subjectively judge and justify Hamish Blair off the next EC Team but it is impossible to refute tha...

Re: Announcement 131116

This is all I'll say regarding the selection process for the EC Team 2018. An objective system of player selection is irrefutable while a subjective system is the opposite. I completely disagree. Any "objective" system would be subject to subjective factors in setting it up, e.g. is rating more sig...

Re: Announcement 131116

a fantastic 18yo selection for the Junior division the next time around. Sorry, I was thinking of ECs as a 4 year cycle, not 2. Amend my thinking to say a 15yo & 17yo, rated 890 & 895 respectively, with similar records in competition. I think that 'potential' would still be worth consideration. But...

Re: Announcement 131116

I hope you are open to using our Euro Tour (among other criteria) as a key indicator to potential performance in selecting a EC Team for 2018. That sort of thing was what I was getting at Seamus, yes. I would say that I don't expect them to detail which factors they are giving more weight to than o...

Re: Announcement 131116

Also, you could choose to keep your options somewhat open wrt players potentially up for selection being on the committee as long as they have no say in their division. Derek for example would doubtless be a good judge as long as he is not allowed to contribute to the decision in GM

Re: Announcement 131116

I did have a couple of thoughts Tom, but the other conversation took a bit too much of my time! Other possible criteria for the panel's consideration; previous performance at ECs and European competition, potentially a commitment to be receptive to coaching and completing a training programme? Also,...

mat cutler wrote:Do we have a proposed date for a vote on these changes if I was going to TD this year (i'm taking a year off!) I'd be wanting to start to plan around now!
As has been mentioned already, this doesn't need a vote, and is therefore, I suspect, already a done deal

Re: Club league idea

This could be easy to set up.... (Snip) (I'm happy to create the Excel sheet to make it automated) I'm glad you added that last sentence!! I absolutely agree that a club points race, primarily for bragging rights at least at first, would be a really fun thing and a great incentive to get club membe...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal

Good questions Neil, I'll give my take on them in order, give or take. You're right, there has to be something in it for TDs to merit wanting to be sanctioned. On the face of it, I would say that tour points are a genuine draw for players who want to be in the title races; rather than focussing on a...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal

Couple of minor questions please: The proposal says that TDs are entitled to make their event only open to BDGA members. Does this apply to the British Open and National Matchplay events please? or will there be a pre agreed approach on one or both of these I can see that you need to be a BDGA memb...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal

'Fairly counteract' may be the answer here. One way to fairly counteract it is to exclude that event from the points series. Another may be to apply a points modifier of some sort to bring it into the system. But at the end of the day I feel like the European Tour events are significantly distinct f...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal

The only conflict I see is I intend to run an ams and ints season long comp in the MODS so once you are in you can choose to stay there for the season even if your rating goes above the cut off, what happens in the BDGA format if a player is competing in Ints in the MODS but ams in the BDGA model, ...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal

I don't think the National Championships should have divisions for all the different Amateur divisions because it will deter people from moving up to the appropriate division. I would agree with this, the Champs should be restricted to simply Open, Masters, Women, Junior and a single Amateur divisi...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal

That's why we need to agree to disagree because I don't see how an event with the highest level of competition within our community of disc golf cannot be included. It's like "disc golf Brexit" :) We're happy to use the rules set forth by Pdga Europe, the points system is so good we'll base our ent...
