Re: 2017 Tour Schedule - registered events
Not a great deal of activity on this thread. Was really hoping to see more TDs publicising the date for their event in the coming season. Or is this really all the events taking place? As a player, not knowing tournament dates well in advance makes it impossible to plan, which in turn means it's le...

Re: Inclusiveness
ah, i did not understand that point. In fact, I actually believed such tournaments were already connected to the BDGA... That may or may not be an interesting point to consider in itself.
Either way, thank you both for clarifying. my earlier post is much less relevant in this context.

Re: Inclusiveness
Not specifically in response to your post Rich but it's a theme I've seen mentioned more than a few times in the context of this debate.
I thought you were going down that route with some of your points which prompted my reply, applogies if i mis-understood.

Re: Inclusiveness
Suggesting the Tour is irrelevant because 1000s of people play in casual rounds, weekly leagues or one dayers is a bit like suggesting the Premiership is irrelevant because big Sam isnt including the star striker from your local pub team in his national team considerations... IMO if you're looking t...

Re: Inclusiveness
For my own benefit (because im struggling to think of an example), please could someone give an example of where a sport's National team IS NOT selected by performance over a National championship or a specific standalone qualifying event(s)? Im talking individual sports too - team sports are a whil...

Re: BDGA tour #10 Mendip Masters
Thanks Seamus. I knew there wasnt any limits or rules and that its TDs ultimate decision. My question was more wondering about the BDGA's guidelines and if this could have been highlighted at the start of the year when the calendar (and presumably tournament bids?) were already defined.

Re: BDGA tour #10 Mendip Masters
Compared to other events the cost isn't unreasonable to me. As a comparison if I go to Burnlaw I might pay around £25 entry, £12 breakfasts, £12 sat night curry and £10 camping. That's just shy of £60 already without Friday night food which would be another £10. £70 at Mendips therefore seems reaso...

Re: BDGA tour #10 Mendip Masters
To be clear - I have absolutely no issue with the value/service that is provided for the £70! But £70 is A LOT of money to force those who don't need/want/can't use the extras to pay where they only want to compete in a BDGA Tour event. I understand it's the TDs decision, and that we don't have to a...

Re: BDGA tour #10 Mendip Masters
Exactly. Or indeed anyone who can't make it down at all on Friday and/or may prefer their own food options. This may turn this in to a wider debate but surely the main cost for a National Tour Event should be the actual competition itself...? Should extra's not be left as extra's? As I said, I can u...

Re: BDGA tour #10 Mendip Masters
Yes I understand that. But why is there no option for those of use who aren't camping and don't need any food?
(Although to be honest I'd probably pay for lunches if that was offered as seems to be the norm)

Re: Tour format idea
Good point... I was thinking more about team sports and associated leagues to be honest which is very different scenario.bruce wrote:
Usually when it's an individual title on the line, it's a one off event. Olympic 100m final, Wimbledon, The Masters, 200m butterfly World Championship final, etc, etc.

Re: Tour format idea
Inclusive except for those it excludes because the particular weekend of the BCs is the one event they can't make in the whole year! Obviously this is a slightly devils advocate reply as I know it can never be right for everyone :P But I would be against the proposal as for me a British Champion sho...

Re: Tour format idea
ps my suggestion doesn't necessarily have to be a Tour. It could be simply be an expanded version of Bruce's proposal! It just seems to me the only 4 events at the top end is too few.

Re: Tour format idea
I would argue that we already have a system where people can vote with their feet. No-one is compelling us to attend Tour events - for the top 5 or so of each division who are actually competing for a title they have 10 to choose from and only have to get 4 good scores; For me this is surely the th...

Unhelpful comment first - MORE golf please! 2 day events are way more enjoyable! Pleeeaaaasssseee don't get rid of them, I've been getting excited about trying to make 8 or 9 events next year for the first time! :D More sensible reply: Really the only remaining point of the Tour is to crown a Champ....

Re: BDGA National Matchplay champs and cornwall open 23/24th
Another vote from me for seeing results (and important news in general) on the forum. Facebook is great for most things but if you are away and dont check it for a couple of days it's impossible to find anything on there, especially if the walls have been filled up with posts for the photo competiti...
