Re: BDGA/PDGA membership post-2016 and old 5-YEAR DEAL
See then Announcements section as this has the link to a spreadsheet to see who is paid up and until when. It also has a link to the page where you join up. It appears, Conor, that your BDGA membership expires at the end of 2016.

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal
Seamus, I think your comments are out of order. I understand that your view is based on how the PDGA system is set up, that is your mindset . You probably think the BDGA has been misguided in trying to set up tournament structure the way we have done, for many years with 3 main divisions yielding se...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal
Well summarised Tom. There are merits and demerits to all systems proposed so far. I think that if you put some minimum points hurdle on the AM1 qualification to British Championships that could keep people honest. Bruce suggested minimum of 4 events, but 4 dead flat lasts and a total of 4 points is...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal
Bruce says Lastly, I don't want people to move up, I want them to play in the division that is appropriate to them. This is at odds with the system you support which says that no matter how rubbish you are, if you get one single point as an Advanced Am it will put you ahead of every person who has p...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal
Yes they can be put on the same scale... by putting them on the same scale. That is what Richard is proposing with his work around to the deficiencies of the system. If you have 20 AM players in a single division, Player A finishes 15th to score 6 points and player B finishes 10th and scores 11 poin...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal
I understand that Bruce and Tom think of the points table as being purely about qualifying for the British Championships, but for many AM2 and most if not all AM3 players it will not be about that. I may be wrong, but I think they will be interested in being part of a ranking, and that ranking is un...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal
I prefer my suggestion (well I would wouldn't I :) What you propose encourages people to move up at the start of the year, but discourages mid-year change when they would end up losing the prior points. I see that as quite a downside. Your proposal does have the advantage of using the PDGA points wi...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal
At the AGM I suggested that all Am divisions get points to go into the table from which British Championships invitations would be determined. This would serve several purposes: - 1. AM players in divisions other than AM1 have some interest in the tour rankings. 2. It could be that there are very fe...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal
Without some management the new system may not be at all beautiful. The laissez faire approach may work, but it could be a right mess. It was previously deemed important to space bigger events evenly throughout the year, and to meet the scheduling requirements of those courses which had limited wind...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal
Phil - are you still coordinating a schedule of the bigger events, ie the 2 day ones which formerly constituted the Tour plus a few new 2 day events at new locations? I'm sure lots of people would like to plan their personal 2017 schedule to include their personal favourites. No doubt the regional t...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal
A couple of things to bear in mind: 1. The British Open is potentially a big draw for overseas players, perhaps not as much as a Eurotour event, but still could be considerable numbers. It will seem odd if we exclude the ET event from points, but double the points for the Open. I know there is a dif...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal
I think the stipulation on running all divisions at all events is unnecessary and limiting. Why not allow an Am only event, or a Pro only event, or a Masters only or womens event? Your points system only records points for the specific division, so it makes no difference to any given division whethe...

Re: BDGA Awards 2016
I'm grateful to all those nominated for Contribution to the game, and to the many others who have not been nominated. Honorable mentions are due to the team up in Manchester - they have achieved so much with the course and have put much effort into reaching the local community. I must also mention A...

22-23 October Poland or Hungary

Croatia - November 4-6th
The 5th Drava Forester tournament takes place over 3 days at the start of November. It's a well organised and fun tournament that has a really strong social side. Nearly all players stay in the same hotel and eat drink and party together. It's inexpensive too! For those who really are focussed just ...

Re: EC 2018 (and beyond) Team GB Qualification
There are many many elements that can contribute to producing top quality players, but by far the biggest element is dedication, and second to that I would put learning skills from school age. Of course maintaining that dedication is made all the easier when there are "rewards" along the way in term...

Re: BDGA Tour #7 - QP Open sponsored by Disc Golf UK
The forecast for the weekend is looking good, so I'm sure people will be up for some night golf, and Nite Ize are sending me some demo discs for people to try out. http://www.niteize.com/product/Flashflight-Hole-In-One.asp We have a brand new ecotoilet installed in its own shed at the side of the 18...

Re: BDGA Tour #7 - QP Open sponsored by Disc Golf UK
There's just a dozen or so places left, so if you want to play and have not registered, you need to get your name down quickly. I now have Emily and Nathan working with me, and the course should be in great condition for the tournament. There won't be a new clubhouse to show off, but there will be a...

Re: BDGA Tour #7 - QP Open sponsored by Disc Golf UK
There won't be a new clubhouse to show off at the QP Open, but there should be a new 7' x 6' cabin housing a new ecotoilet and urinal.
