Re: Bdga National Match Play Championships
I would guess that having it b2b weekends with the Champs at Creeksea would hurt attendance rather than help it

Re: Bdga National Match Play Championships
It's penned into my calender. You may get a more thorough response on Facebook though.
Are your Quaich tour events not BDGA? I'd have assumed you'd have at least half a dozen 1-day events for Scottish players to qualify from before September, it is 9 months away!

Re: Bdga National Match Play Championships
As I stated, there is nothing preventing you running all the other divisions you want to as one day events alongside the T16 Not a very legitimate way to run an event, force the top players from other divisions into an artificially propped up Open division thereby scraping off the competition from ...

Re: Bdga National Match Play Championships
Problem is the Open division top 16 encompasses not only MPO but the best players in FPO, MPM, MA1 and maybe into MJ1 so for now an event offering divisions for Nationals Match Play is a one day event. If we could attract 6/8 MPG's I wouldn't hesitate to offer this group the option of a title. This...

Re: Bdga National Match Play Championships
I have two things to say, Firstly have you ever considered you are in the minority on this one? and secondly 14 years at our age is recent history  1) He's not. 2) 14 years in DG terms is an eternity, approaching half the life of the sport. 3) There have been no complaints, no suggestions (oth...

Re: Bdga National Match Play Championships
Sorry Seamus, but you're wrong here. The only changes to the tour format, which include Nationals, are detailed in Phil's proposal. Nationals format is unchanged in that proposal, and is therefore unchanged. Reacting with 'tough cookies, I'm doing it my way, boycott if you wish' is a spectacularly u...

Re: Trophy only fees
Hi Trevor I suspect that you have seen this because, and only because, the 2 big events that have opened registration are both EuroTour where historically there is strong Pro attendance and accordingly higher fees to effect a good payout. To reassure you, I do not intend to charge any difference in ...

Re: Bdga National Match Play Championships
The 3 day format is something I've been considering for a while and I think will happen sooner or later, if only for increased field size. As a teacher, I'm wholly opposed to this, unless they all happen in the holidays! There are some people who have to work weekends, them's the breaks I'm afraid!...

Re: Bdga National Match Play Championships
My concern with 54 holes would be whether there is enough daylight in October. You know your course best however!

Re: Bdga National Match Play Championships
Hypothetically, as I'm pretty sure the intent is for the format to remain as is for this year... Why do you think its a let down? As a finalist I'd feel shortchanged. It's a bit like getting to the final of Wimbledon after a series of 5 set matches and then having the final as a 1 set shootout. In w...

Re: Bdga National Match Play Championships
A 2-round, one-day Nationals is not a substantial enough test of player ability, esp on the mental game, to crown a worthy champion. Again apologies if I’ve misunderstood, but I do not recall any previous suggestion, discussion or decision that making the Top16 Match Play the season opener would me...

Re: Bdga National Match Play Championships
A clarification Seamus, I think you're suggesting the Sunday event is strokeplay? If so I can't see any reason why this couldn't be an event in the new BDGA season, the Champs are the season closer so any event after that could qualify. This seems quite an attractive format to me, you have effective...

Re: Club league idea
Personally I would be against telephone teams and Sponsored teams, because they are selection type teams, not clubs. Instead of the former I would hope it might encourage for example a 'West Country DG club' to form, which would be positive for the area anyway. The latter could happen I suppose, but...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal
I meant a 'proposed dates' one for TD's to use. I think the TD-to-TD communication piece is vital also, the way I would see it working is: TD adds proposed date to (private) calendar, posts on the FB group their intent to host an event on that date and some details (Tier, part of local tour etc), a...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal
I think we're on the same page here i just need some clarification/guidance please. If I run Ma2, bottom bracket sounds sensible, can I stop anyone from 870 - 934 registering for that division at an event, can I push them into MA1 instead? I don't forsee it being a problem with the normal players p...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal
Using the MODs tour as an exemplar for how 2017 might pan out under the Tiered model. Caveat that MODs only has MA1 & 2, not 3 as tracked standings (unless I’m missing something), and no MPM so I’ve had to guess a little, but the ideas still work. The MODS standings do exactly what the BDGA Tiered m...

Re: BDGA 2017 Tour proposal
Going back to your benefit thing, I think you're actually reducing the appeal of the BDGA to MA2/3. The proposed method had all divisions listed in order, making a points champion for lower divisions visible and a viable target. Under the all-MA1 approach it will be a several hundred long list of pl...
