It can now be confirmed Ace Race will take place on 27th September 2008.

Essex University (adapted) short 9 hole course. 1100 hrs for 1130hr start.
Format :
4 rounds of adapted short 9 course with break after two.
Course Layout :
Holes will be between 55 and 75 mtrs (within everyones reach)
Entry Fee:
£18.00 includes players pack only. Optional £2 Pot.
RESTRICTED TO FIRST 20 PLAYERS.
Players Package :
2 Discraft prototype discs, one mini and a discraft hat.
For the disc expert, the acerace disc is a zippy small diameter, mid range, slightly over-stable with great glide. Think buzz junior, will hold a line in a
moderate head wind, but isn't crazy overstable or too tough to handle at low speeds or in calm conditions.
Rules of Play:
Players are required to use only package disc, Players scorecard will show 'A' for ace, 'M' for metal. You have one throw at the basket after which you move to the next tee. Most aces will win, if not followed by chain hits. If tied c.t.p. will be held.
Prize package :
Winner takes all of prize which is lots of excellent plastic from discraft.
5 x assorted Elite Z discs and 5 X assorted ESP golf discs.
To Sign Up :
Payment in advance, cheques payable to 'Harwich Disc Golf Club' sent to Sophie Southgate, 16 The Hornbeams, Little Oakley, Harwich, Essex, CO12 5NL.

Steve, The caps are reserved, the account is at LLoyds TSB Bank, Dovercourt. Sort code 30 92 16, Account No. 0749001, name is Harwich Disc Golf Club. The discs range in weight from 165 grms to 176 grms, if you let me know I'll try and match weights as close as possible. They are all bright discs. :D

Chris, your account number seems to be missing a digit. Isn't the usual format 8 digits? I guess it's another 0 at the beginning, but want to make sure before I slap over 72 squid. :) Let me know and I'll do the do asap. :)

The grass on the national course is being cut this week & next week, so anybody wishing to have a bit of practice after the ace race will find the course in good condition. :D

I'll be driving down for the day so if there is anyone from QP area who wants to take the last place (assuming it is still available) but thought they couldn't get to Colchester then let me know.

Unfortunately last spot has gone, could have filled up another half a dozen or so slots, will know better next time. Most of the lads are having a game in the afternoon of some sorts. Weather looking bright and calm.

RESULT : The Ace Race was won by Paul Holden on a nearest the pin decider against Bill Ferguson. Both Paul and Bill aced the 7th of the short nine course. Chain hits were also made by Paul Cooper, Sophie, Steve Brooster, Richard Wood and Richard who is the local uni ultimate captain.
The course seemed to work well and the weather was good to us. Lots of oohs and aahs could be heard. However it was Paul who ran off with the bag, 10 discs and ace pot of £36.
The afternoon was spent with a Essex v Croydon v Aliens (others) matchplay round. I will leave Richard to explain the final score as he has taken the sheets. I do know that the Essex team of Paul Cooper, Ross Poole, Tim Herring, Paul Stoddart and Bill (Tims mate) beat the Aliens who comfortably beat Croydon under the scoring system in place.
Do hope everybody enjoyed it and had a safe trip home. :D
