BDGA Sanctioned Leagues

Post by Cooper » Sat Jan 28, 2017 11:36 pm

Hopefully a quick question and an easy answer...

I want a PDGA and BDGA sanctioned league for Bedworth starting in April...

The PDGA sanction is cheaper than a tournament:
$25 instead of $50

But the PDGA require a per player fee:
$0.50 to PDGA
$0.50 to club

Will the BDGA still require a sanction of:
£10
£1 per non-BDGA member

It's difficult to find stuff like this on the forum.

Hi Cooper,

you will struggle to find an answer to this by searching the forum because I'm pretty sure no-one has asked it before, and we've only just changed to our new tour structure, so they haven't had long to (not) ask it.

Unfortunately we hadn't considered this so I can't give you an 'easy' straight answer immediately - I will have to discuss it with Phil and the board.

Having looked up how PDGA leagues award points it seems that they award them once at the end of the whole league - not every week for each round. Therefore I reckon we could sanction it and it would be best to treat it as if the whole thing was a two-day event, and charge £20 sanctioning plus £2 per non-BDGA member (which could be done in two £1 increments, just in case someone really only wanted to play one of the rounds).

Does that sound reasonable? I'll check and get back to you if so.

I had a question like that, bumbling around,
I like toms idea, good value too, if it's a ten week League
Five rounds for a (club)tenner/ or£1
Groovy we may well sanction ours

Why would it need or want to be bdga sanctioned? Is it an insurance thing or something?

If, as Tom says we treat it as a two day league, perhaps the points could be added to our club league points tally, in some way (remembering of course that the club league is still in trial and jolly)
This would encourage clubs to hold leagues aswell as glory tournaments, therefore building local participation

Thanks Tom, i need to work out the sums - i will come back to this later on in the week when i get more time.

Initial thoughts from me is that it makes overall costs higher and makes things more complicated if we want to include PDGA and BDGA sanctions - i was hoping the sanctioing fee was going to half rather than double like the PDGA does it as this would be manageable.

We don't need it for the insurance, it was really to encourage those who want to bolster their BDGA tour points to join in too.

I decided instead of the usual pdga league we run in bristol to put on 3 one dayers over 6 weeks in bristol. bdga tour events. yes sanctioning fees are higher but got 31 at the first one and even at £5 entry, sanctioning fees now covered for all three events.
